Description:

The Plantain Squirrel is common in Singapore. It can even be found near housing estates. Its head is round and has short legs and long bushy tail. It is olive-brown above and on the tail. Its belly and inside of the limbs are reddish-brown. There is a black and white stripe on each side of the body. It is whtish around the eyes.

 

Habitat:

Diurnal, omnivorous and arboreal. Inhabits forest, mangrove, scrubland and parkland.

Size:

HB 22cm. Tail to 21cm

Status:

Widespread and common.

Distribution

Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo and Java
