Description:

The Slender Squirrel is one of the two common squirrels found in Singapore. It is smaller than the Plantain Squirrel. Its head is round with its short legs and a furry tail. Its upperparts of the body and tail is olive brown. Unlike the Plantain Squirrel which has a reddish belly, the Slender Squrrel has a grey underside. It is pale around the eyes.

 

Habitat:

Diurnal, inhabits forest and parkland. In Singapore, it is common but confined to the Central Nature Reserves, Bukit Batok Nature Park and the Botanic Gardens.

Size:

HB 15cm. Tail to 13cm

Status:

Restricted to certain areas but common.

Distribution

Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo
